Summary

Borrelli + Partners, Inc. was selected to prepare and provide preliminary architectural plans and reports at a 30% construction document level for the new Brightline Trains Vehicle Maintenance Facility located about 1.5 miles southwest of the Orlando International Airport. B+P was subsequently hired as the Architect of Record for the construction of the facility.

The design consists of three (3) new buildings on the site and includes specific functions that are related to its use such as Offices, Maintenance, Operations, Commissary and Building Support functions. These buildings include a 135,805 SF Maintenance Building, a 2,200 SF Wheel Truer Building, and a 4,300 SF Train Wash Building. The buildings are comprised of 12" CMU walls and single ply roofs for all three (3) buildings and includes a PEMB over the maintenance bay areas with a standing seam metal roof. The $100 million facility, the most advanced in the region, has the ability to service up to 16 trains at one time.

At the length of two football fields, the world-class facility also features:

  • Cutting-edge Technology

  • Two Fueling Islands and a Sand Island: an 80,000 gallon biodiesel fuel farm

  • Parts Warehouse: an 11,000 SF, 3-story parts shop

  • Truck Shop

  • Drop Table: a 25-foot deep drop table that operates between the heavy maintenance track and the truck shop. This allows the trucks to be swapped out quickly to get the trains back into services.
