Borrelli + Partners was commissioned to design the new transportation center for Volusia County Public Schools. The existing Clyde Morris Boulevard transportation facility had reached the end of its functional life and could not meet current demands. The firm was responsible for the master planning of the entire site to accommodate the addition of new buildings, parking, access ways and retention areas. The team developed site plans for three different sites to assist the School Board in selecting the most appropriate site. Site improvements include paved parking for approximately 172 buses and 290 employee vehicles, on-site driver’s range, access drives and retention areas. Borrelli + Partners was responsible for the design of an eight-bay bus maintenance facility containing all the required spaces, equipment and systems to maintain all of the School Boards’ vehicles. The project also included a fleet maintenance/administration office building. This building accommodates administrative and maintenance offices, conference rooms, teaching rooms and support spaces. In addition, the project also included a fueling facility, bus wash facility, a vacuum island and remote driver’s restrooms located on the site.
