Black Bear Habitat VIP Opening Wed, Jul 26, 2017

 

On Wednesday, July 26th, 2017, the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Garden’s had their VIP opening for the Black Bear Habitat. B+P designed the 1 acre habitat, called “Living with Bears,” to teach the general public how to safely coexist with Bears.

The habitat features two Florida black bears living outside a 720 SF “bear house” where visitors learn proper ways to keep food sources away from bears, how to manage trash disposal, and what to do if one encounters a bear. The bear house includes a kitchen area, living room area, and garage area allowing visitors unique views on how bears often come into contact with humans. The bear house also features a pool which the bears can access as they often do in residential areas.
