Call to Artists: Primrose Pocket Park Public Art
Call to Artists:
The Milk District and the City of Orlando are seeking artists to submit their artwork proposals for a new pocket park at the corner of Anderson Street and Primrose Drive as part of the Downtown Connector Trail segment of the Downtown Loop, which will serve the District.
The Downtown Loop is a multi-use trail project, that when finished, will create a 8.5 mile loop through the greater downtown Orlando area and will provide residents with a car-free option to access shopping, dining, entertainment, parks, offices and services. Made up of primarily off-street bikeways, the Downtown Loop will encompass more than a dozen neighborhoods, including The Milk District, and connect to the Orlando Urban Trail, Gertrude’s Walk, Lake Underhill Path, Bumby Path, and Cady Way Trail.
The Primrose Pocket Park will serve the adjacent residential neighborhood and business district and provide a waypoint along the trail for users to stop and enjoy. (See the map of the Site Plan.) We hope to provide an artistically rich installation that will capture the character and culture of the community, and visually enhance the public space while greeting people as they enter the District.
The proposal will include two sites within the pocket park, with a budget of $70,000. Proposals are due Monday, October 17, with a final decision scheduled to be made by the end of 2022, with a Spring 2023 installation window.
