Construction Begins for the Pet Alliance's New Animal Shelter!

The Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando (PAGO) has recently started construction on their new 25,000 square-foot facility. The future shelter will be located on John Young Parkway and will house one of the largest shelter medical facilities in the state of Florida, as well as an enhanced area dedicated to adoption services. Borrelli + Partners has provided architectural design for the new facility, and will provide construction administration services alongside the construction services of H.J. High for the new, state-of-the-art Orlando Animal Shelter.

PAGO receives more than 4,000 dogs and cats in need of temporary shelter, medical care and rehoming each year. Through their Almost Home Capital Campaign initiative, they plan to continue providing the highest level of care and support for dogs, cats, and pet owners at the new Orlando Animal Shelter. Designed with functionality in mind, the facility will feature a modern shelter space with AC for all animals, a medical space for ill or injured animals, quarantine spaces, specialized housing for long-term dog residents, a vegetable and herb garden for natural treats, and indoor / outdoor play yards.

Noise mitigation design features will also be implemented throughout the entire building, along with flexible space for Pet Alliance to evolve and grow in the future.

The shelter's estimated completion date is February 2026.
