Rackets at the Ready: Orlando Tennis Centre Grand Opening!

Tennis & Pickleball Enthusiasts Rejoice!

The ribbon has been cut and the new Orlando Tennis Centre is now open! Located in the Packing District, the Tennis Centre features 11 clay courts, 6 hard courts, a half-court practice wall, a raised competition observation platform, and a 4,000 SF welcome center with a modern clubhouse, lockers, showers, restrooms, meeting space, and a pro shop. Two of the hard courts have lines that allow them to be converted to four pickleball courts.

“With a nod to the growing sport of pickleball, we were able to convert a couple of courts. And we will have harmony between the two sports,” Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said jokingly.

Connecting Orlando

The Orlando Tennis Centre and the adjacent Grove Park further the city’s commitment to creating gathering spaces for everyone and improving quality of life by connecting residents in the Rosemont, College Park, Mercy Drive, and Spring Lake neighborhoods.

District 5 Commissioner Regina Hill expressed that the park and new Orlando Tennis Centre will be more than just a place to have sports and activities, but that it will provide children from surrounding neighborhoods with opportunities they never had before. Hill and Dyer stressed that the park and Orlando Tennis Centre, being regional in scale and allowing children from multiple neighborhoods to interact with one another, will make Orlando more interconnected than ever and strengthen the relationships between the people of the city.
