Summary
The firm’s services included programming, architectural design, interior design, and space planning for a new five-story, 140,000 square foot administration building and a 400-car parking garage for the City of Miami Police Department.
The design accommodated complex functional and technical requirements for a five-division, 800-sworn-officer police department, including various centralized state of the art computer aided communication and security systems, indoor pistol range training facility and food service/ restaurant operation.
Other functional requirements inherent in a specialized facility of this nature were included, such as spaces for property and evidence storage, male/ female/ juvenile holding cells, prisoner processing areas, records, roll call meeting areas, a video studio and a centralized city-wide computer center.
The design incorporated extensive provisions for expansion and future building adaptability. This work was effectively handled and executed with an abbreviated time schedule, while achieving significant budget savings. AIA Architecture for Justice, Justice Facilities Review Design Award
