Now Open - New Ocala International Airport Terminal!
The Ocala International Airport's new $7.3 million terminal has been cleared for takeoff!
As part of a Design/Build team, Borrelli + Partners provided architectural design services through construction administration for the new 18,060 SF General Aviation Terminal Building. With a rising metropolitan population that is likely to surpass half a million people in the next 20 years and is home to the World Equestrian Center, the Ocala International Airport is envisioned to serve as a major component of the City’s economic growth. The goal of the project is to provide the City a building for various uses including: airport administration, airport fixed base operations, restaurant, multiple car rental business, meeting rooms, rental space for commercial aeronautical business, and possible future expansion to facilitate US Customs Service.
“It creates a gateway unlike any other for Ocala. It’s a wonderful first impression,” said Matt Grow, the airport director.
The new terminal building serves as a first-class community and industry gateway to the City of Ocala, the national and international equine industry, and the award-winning horse farms that call Ocala home.
The centerpiece of that first impression is a vintage 1947 North American Navion airplane hanging from the terminal’s ceiling. The shiny metal body hangs at a slight angle, as if preparing to bank, and features insignia from its former life as a training aircraft for the U.S. Army Air Corps.
