Advanced Manufacturing Facility Renovation

Awarded as part of our continuing services contract with Valencia College, this project consisted of the design and performing construction administration services for the renovation of the existing 17,700 SF Colt Manufacturing Plant. The existing building was converted into a training and educational facility and features four labs, two smart-technology classrooms, a conference room, a study lounge, and exterior additions such as covered storage and recycling units.

The design provides for life safety code adjustments and ADA requirements, as well as modifying existing electrical and mechanical systems to accommodate the proposed floor plan. Per SREF standards, the facility also required the design team to incorporate a fire retardant coating to protect structural wood members for educational use and achieve the appropriate fire ratings for combustible materials.

This new center will train students for high-tech manufacturing jobs.
